During the week of August 6, 2017, the world bade a final farewell to country legend Glen Campbell.

Also that week, it was announced that Dionne Warwick will be this year's recipient of the prestigious Marian Anderson Award.

Bruce Springsteen recently released a new archival live album titled "Action In The Streets 1977" featuring rare performances from the first two concerts of his 1977 tour with The E Street Band. A new album by David Crosby titled "Sky Trails" will be coming out in September. Also due out that month are a new compilation album by The Steve Miller Band titled "Ultimate Hits" and a Blu-ray edition of the 1978 movie, "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," a musical comedy inspired by The Beatles' classic 1967 album.

Also that week, it was announced that "Detroit A-Go-Go," a soul music festival with numerous veteran R&B/soul acts, will take place in the Motor City this October. Among the featured performers are J.J. Barnes, The Contours, The Capitols, The Elgins, The Precisions, Spyder Turner, The Velvelettes, Gino Washington, and Kim Weston.

August 7, 2017: David Crosby To Release New Album

A new album by David Crosby titled "Sky Trails" will be coming out on September 29, 2017. This upcoming 10-track collection includes mostly new songs written or co-written by Crosby, plus a cover of Joni Mitchell's 1976 song, "Amelia." One of this album's songs, "Sell Me A Diamond," was recently posted on SoundCloud and elsewhere online.

August 7, 2017: Bruce Springsteen To Release New Archival Album

Bruce Springsteen recently released a new archival live album titled "Action In The Streets 1977" as part of a newly-launched series of 25 archival recordings to be issued over the next two years. Featured in this latest release are rare performances from the first two concerts of his 1977 tour with The E Street Band which took place in the state of New York at the Palace Theater in Albany and the Auditorium Theatre in Rochester. August 8, 2017: 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' Movie To Be Released On Blu-ray

"Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," a 1978 movie inspired by The Beatles' classic 1967 album, will be coming out September 26, 2017 on Blu-ray. The soundtrack to this musical comedy features new versions of songs from the album by such artists as Aerosmith, The Bee Gees, Alice Cooper, Earth, Wind & Fire, Peter Frampton, Billy Preston, and Steve Martin.

August 8, 2017: New Steve Miller Band Compilation To Be Released

The Steve Miller Band announced a new compilation album titled "Ultimate Hits" which is due out on September 15, 2017. This career-spanning collection includes such classics as "The Joker," "Take The Money And Run," and "Fly Like An Eagle," plus several unreleased live recordings and other lesser known gems. Also included is a rare clip of Miller at age five talking to his godfather, recording pioneer Les Paul.

August 8, 2017: Country Legend Glen Campbell Passes Away

Famed and beloved country star Glen Campbell died on August 8, 2017 at age 81 after battling Alzheimer's disease. His long string of hits during the 1960s and 1970s on both the Country and Pop/Rock charts included such favorites as "Gentle On My Mind" (1967), "By The Time I Get To Phoenix" (1967), "Rhinestone Cowboy" (1975), and "Southern Nights" (1977). He was also a highly sought-after session guitarist, movie actor, and TV host of "The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour." His many honors and accolades included multiple Grammys and being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005.

After being diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2011, Campbell released "Ghost On The Canvas" and launched his "Glen Campbell Goodbye Tour." This trek, which continued through late 2012, was the main subject of the critically acclaimed 2014 documentary, "Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me." He released his final album, "Adios," earlier this year.

August 11, 2017: Dionne Warwick To Be Honored With Marian Anderson Award

Dionne Warwick will be this year's recipient of the Marian Anderson Award, a prestigious honor named after the celebrated opera singer to critically acclaimed artists who have impacted society in a positive way. The awards ceremonies will take place in Philadelphia on November 14, 2017. Previous winners include Patti LaBelle and the songwriting/producing team, Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff.

August 11, 2017: 'Detroit A-Go-Go' Soul Music Festival To Be Held In Motor City

A music festival dubbed "Detroit A-Go-Go" is set to take place in the Motor City October 18-23, 2017 at the St Regis Hotel. This event, which is being promoted as a "Once In a Lifetime USA Soul Experience," is dedicated to Motown and other American R&B/soul music that inspired the Northern soul music and dance movement in Northern England that began during the late 1960s. Featured bands and artists that have been announced so far include J.J.
