During the week of August 14, 2016, the estate of Elvis Presley announced plans to open a new entertainment complex in 2017 dubbed Elvis: Past, Present & Future which is currently under construction near Graceland.

Carlos Santana recently teamed up with jazz greats Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock to form a new group known as Mega Nova which will give its debut concert later this month at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Michael Nesmith will reunite with surviving members of The Monkees onstage for a show this September at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles. The sixth annual KISS cruise, dubbed KISS Kruise VI, sets sail from Miami, FL in November. Van Morrison announced two upcoming concerts at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas which will take place next January. He also has a series of shows lined up in the U.S. for the remainder of this year beginning in October. Next year's Yes "Cruise To The Edge" progressive rock-themed fan cruise is set to take place in February, with featured bands and artists to include Yes, Kansas, and members of The Moody Blues, Genesis, and Asia. Also, Rod Stewart announced that he will extend his hugely popular Las Vegas residency into the spring of 2017.

Coming out later this month are a new Beach Boys album of early recordings from when the band was known as The Pendletones titled "Becoming The Beach Boys: The Complete Hite & Dorinda Morgan Sessions" and a new Todd Rundgren album/video titled "Evening With Todd Rundgren -- Live At Ridgefield." This September, four Neil Young albums will be re-released on vinyl: "Time Fades Away" (1973), "On The Beach" (1974), "Tonight's The Night" (1975), and "Zuma" (1975). Also due out that month are the soundtrack to the David Bowie movie, "The Man Who Fell To Earth," and the re-release on vinyl of three Pink Floyd albums: "Atom Heart Mother" (1970), "Meddle" (1971) and "Obscured By Cloud" (1972). This October, Barry Gibb will release a new solo album titled "In The Now."

Also that week, it was announced that various rare Black Sabbath memorabilia dating back to 1968-1973 will be going to auction this September. Also that month, two new autobiographies will be coming out: "Born To Run" by Bruce Springsteen and "Maurice White: My Life With Earth, Wind & Fire" by Maurice White.

August 15, 2016: New Album Of Early Beach Boys Songs To Be Released

A new Beach Boys album of early recordings (pre May 1962) from when the band was known as The Pendletones will be coming out on August 26, 2016. Titled "Becoming The Beach Boys: The Complete Hite & Dorinda Morgan Sessions," this 62-track collection includes multiple versions of such classics as "Surfer Girl" and "Surfin' Safari," plus "Luau," "Lavender," and other rarities.

August 15, 2016: New Elvis Presley-Themed Entertainment Complex To Open In 2017

The estate of Elvis Presley announced plans to open a new entertainment complex sometime during the spring of 2017 dubbed Elvis: Past, Present & Future. This massive facility, which is currently under construction across the street from Graceland, will include several museums and exhibits of Presley memorabilia, plus a soundstage, restaurants, and shops. August 16, 2016: Todd Rundgren To Release New Live Concert Video And Album

Todd Rundgren announced a new live album/video titled "Evening With Todd Rundgren -- Live At Ridgefield" due out on August 26, 2016 in various formats. Highlights include early songs from his days with his old bands, Nazz and Utopia.

August 16, 2016: Rod Stewart To Extend Las Vegas Residency

Due to an overwhelming demand, Rod Stewart announced that he will be extending his hugely popular Las Vegas residency into the spring of 2017. Seven new shows have been added to his itinerary to take place from March 15-April 1, 2017.

August 16, 2016: Rare Black Sabbath Items To Go To Auction

Various rare Black Sabbath memorabilia dating back to 1968-1973 will be going to auction on September 30, 2016 at Sheffield Auction Gallery in Sheffield, England. Highlights include items going as far back as before late 1969 when the band was known as Earth such as posters, various handwritten song lyrics and postcards, and rare photos. These items were discovered by a resident of Sheffield in the 1980s when the London Docklands were being redeveloped.

August 17, 2016: Van Morrison Announces Upcoming U.S. Shows

Van Morrison will begin his 2017 itinerary with two concerts at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas which will take place January 13 and 14, 2017. Those buying tickets will receive a free copy of Morrison's upcoming album, "Keep Me Singing," which is due out on September 30, 2016. He also has a series of 11 shows lined up in the U.S. for the remainder of this year beginning October 9 in New York City and ending November 19 in Clearwater, FL, with stops in California and Nevada.

August 17, 2016: Memoir By Late Earth, Wind & Fire Frontman Maurice White To Be Published

Earth, Wind & Fire founder Maurice White died in February 2016 at age 74, and before his passing, he wrote a memoir about his life and career. Titled "Maurice White: My Life With Earth, Wind & Fire," this autobiography is due out on September 13, 2016. In this book, White shares his hardships growing up and his band's rise to fame.

August 17, 2016: Neil Young 1970s Albums To Be Re-Released On Vinyl

Four classic Neil Young albums from the 1970s will be re-released September 6, 2016 on Reprise Records: "Time Fades Away" (1973), "On The Beach" (1974), "Tonight's The Night" (1975), and "Zuma" (1975). Each album, to be re-released on vinyl, has been remastered from its original recording.

August 17, 2016: 'The Man Who Fell To Earth' Soundtrack To Be Released

The soundtrack to the David Bowie movie, "The Man Who Fell To Earth," will be released on CD September 9, 2016, the 40th anniversary of this movie which, on that day, will be shown in theaters. A box set and a vinyl version are due out on October 24, the same day that the movie is set to come out on DVD.

August 18, 2016: Carlos Santana To Give First Show With Mega Nova

Carlos Santana recently teamed up with jazz greats Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock to form a new group known as Mega Nova. The group will give its debut concert on August 24, 2016 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Other group members include Cindy Blackman Santana, Carlos Santana's wife and current Santana drummer.

August 18, 2016: Second Installment Of Reissued Pink Floyd Albums To Be Released

A second installment of classic Pink Floyd albums will be coming out September 23, 2016 on vinyl. Included in this upcoming set are "Atom Heart Mother" (1970), "Meddle" (1971) and "Obscured By Cloud" (1972). Pink Floyd's vinyl reissue campaign began June 3 with the release of various albums from the late 1960s.

Barry Gibb, the sole surviving member of The Bee Gees, will release a new solo album, his second to date, which is due out on October 7, 2016. Titled "In The Now," this collection features 12 new songs Gibb co-wrote with his sons Stephen and Ashley.

August 20, 2016: Michael Nesmith To Reunite With Monkees For Last Concert

Michael Nesmith will reunite with surviving members of The Monkees onstage for what is expected to be their last concert together. This event is set to take place September 16, 2016 at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles. Afterwards, Dolenz and Tork will launch a world tour in Australia and New Zealand, and Nesmith will begin a book tour.
