During the week of December 8, 2013, it was announced that the Beatles, Kraftwerk, Kris Kristofferson, and the Isley Brothers will all be receiving Lifetime Achievement Awards at the 56th Annual Grammys this January.
Also that week, Carlos Santana, Billy Joel and Herbie Hancock were among those honored at the Kennedy Center. This event will be televised on December 29, 2013 on CBS.
Led Zeppelin recently released its catalog on Spotify, a music streaming service. A new box set that includes all 13 of the Beatles' American albums is set to be released this January. Also, a collection of rare early recordings by the Fab Four will be coming out on iTunes next week. This February, Heart will be releasing a new live DVD and album recorded during the band's recent "Fanatic" tour. A lost Johnny Cash album originally recorded in the early 1980s was recently discovered and is due out this March.
Neil Young announced tour dates for 2014 in the U.S., Canada, and Europe that include a series of concerts at New York's Carnegie Hall and a show at London's Hyde Park. Gregg Allman will be performing at this year's Warren Haynes' Christmas Jam which takes place on December 13-14, 2013 in Asheville, NC. Also, on December 20, 2013, Showtime will be broadcasting the documentary for the Rolling Stones concerts in Hyde Park from last July (see video clip below).

On December 8, 2013, Carlos Santana, Billy Joel, Herbie Hancock, Shirley MacLaine, and opera star Martina Arroyo were honored at the Kennedy Center. Among those who attended were TV host Bill O'Reilly, who paid tribute to Herbie Hancock, and President Obama. This event will be televised on December 29 on CBS.
December 9, 2013: Neil Young Announces Tour Dates For 2014
Neil Young will be playing at New York's famed Carnegie Hall on January 6, 7, 9 and 10, 2014. He will then give four shows in Canada starting January 12, 2014 in Toronto, ON and ending January 19 in Calgary, AB. This summer, Young will be touring in Europe with his band, Crazy Horse. Upcoming show dates include London's Hyde Park on July 12, 2014, and Ulm, Germany on July 20, with more European dates to be announced.
December 9, 2013: Rolling Stones' Return to Hyde Park' Documentary To Air On Showtime
On December 20, 2013, Showtime will be broadcasting the documentary for the Rolling Stones concerts in Hyde Park from last July. Titled "Sweet Summer Sun - Return to Hyde Park," this documentary, which was recently released on DVD and Blu-ray, includes highlights from the concerts plus rare behind-the-scenes footage.
December 10, 2013E: Lost Johnny Cash Album To Be Released
An album recorded on Columbia Records by Johnny Cash in the early 1980s that got shelved, titled "Out Among the Stars," is set to be released on March 25, 2014. The songs on this lost album include a duet with Waylon Jennings and two with June Carter Cash.

December 11, 2013: Led Zeppelin Catalog Comes To Spotify
Starting December 11, 2013, Led Zeppelin's catalog will be coming to Spotify. Over the next several days, the legendary rock band will gradually make its albums available on this music streaming service, starting with "Led Zeppelin" and "Led Zeppelin II." Led Zeppelin previously released its catalog on iTunes in 2007.
December 11, 2013: Neil Young and Crazy Horse To Play At London's Hyde Park
Neil Young and Crazy Horse will be one of the headlining acts at Barclaycard British Summer Time in Hyde Park, London, a ten-day fest which will take place in July, 2014. Young is set to perform on July 12.

This January, the Beatles, Kraftwerk, Kris Kristofferson and the Isley Brothers will be receiving Lifetime Achievement Awards at the 56th Annual Grammys. This award will be the 9th Grammy the Fab Four has received to date. Others who will be honored at the Grammys include film music composer Ennio Morricone, rock photographer Jim Marshall, and Rick Hall, the owner of Muscle Shoals, Alabama's famed FAME Studios.
December 12, 2013: Beatles Box Set To Be Released
On January 21, 2014, a new box set that includes all 13 of the Beatles' American albums, titled "The U.S. Albums" is set to be released. This collection, which starts with "Meet the Beatles" (1964) and ends with "Hey Jude" (1970), includes five albums that will appear on CD for the first time. A 64-page booklet will also be included in the set.
December 12, 2013: New Heart Live CD And DVD To Be Released
On February 25, 2014, Heart will be releasing a new live DVD and album titled "Fanatic Live From Caesars Colosseum." The video was shot in HD during Heart's "Fanatic" tour.
December 13, 2013: Gregg Allman To Play In Warren Haynes' Christmas Jam
Gregg Allman will be joining this year's Warren Haynes' Christmas Jam which takes place on December 13-14, 2013 at the U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville, NC. For those who cannot make this event, it will be streamed live from xmasjam.com. Proceeds will go towards Habitat for Humanity.
December 13, 2013: Rare Beatles' Recordings To Be Released
A collection of 59 rare early recordings by the Beatles is set to be released on iTunes next week. Most of these recordings were made in 1963 while the Beatles recorded their debut album, "Please Please Me," and they include outtakes and multiple versions of classic hits.
