During the week of December 18, 2016, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced its inductees for 2017. Joan Baez, ELO, Journey, Yes, and Nile Rodgers of Chic are among the honorees.

Also that week, it was announced that Sly Stone, The Velvet Underground, Charley Pride, and Jimmie Rodgers will be honored this January by the Recording Academy with Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Justin Hayward of The Moody Blue announced an upcoming U.S. tour that starts next February. Elton John and James Taylor announced a joint tour beginning next March that will take the two music legends to various countries in South America. Also, Dave Davies of The Kinks announced three shows in the U.S. to take place next April.

Chubby Checker recently released a new version of "The Twist" which is available as a digital download at a number of online music stores. Also, a video companion to Eric Clapton's recently released album, "Live In San Diego With Special Guest JJ Cale," will be coming out next March on DVD and Blu-ray.

Also that week, hundreds of rock/pop stars and other entertainers released a concert video in support of the recently-launched campaign, "We Are Not Afraid," to aid victims of religious and political persecution around the world. Among the many featured artists are Jackson Browne, Eric Burdon, David Crosby, Dion, Peter Frampton, Sam Moore, Graham Nash, Linda Ronstadt, Todd Rundgren, Bruce Springsteen, Ringo Starr, and Brian Wilson.

The awards ceremonies will take place on April 7, 2017 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY and will be broadcast on HBO sometime later next year.

December 18, 2016: Chubby Checker Releases Remix Of 'The Twist'

Chubby Checker recently released a new version of "The Twist," an oldies classic that is the only song in history to top the Billboard charts twice in two separate years (1960 and 1962). The new version of "The Twist" is available as a digital download at a number of online music stores.

December 19, 2016: Video Of Eric Clapton's 'Live In San Diego' Album To Be Released

A video companion to Eric Clapton's recently released album, "Live In San Diego With Special Guest JJ Cale," will be coming out March 10, 2017 on DVD and Blu-ray. Highlights include Cale's performances of "Cocaine" and "After Midnight," plus several other songs he has written over the years as made famous by other artists.

December 19, 2016: Elton John, James Taylor To Launch Joint South American Tour

Elton John and James Taylor announced a joint tour for next spring that will take the two music legends to various countries in South America. This upcoming 6-show trek begins on March 31, 2017 and ends on April 10, with concerts in Brazil, Argentina and Chile.

December 19, 2016: Sly Stone, Velvet Underground To Receive Grammy Lifetime Achievement Awards

Sly Stone, The Velvet Underground, Charley Pride, and Jimmie Rodgers are among those to be honored by the Recording Academy with 2017 Lifetime Achievement Awards. The awards ceremonies will take place at the 2nd annual "A Grammy Salute To Music Legends" event slated for sometime in early January.

December 20, 2016: Justin Hayward Of The Moody Blues To Launch Tour

Justin Hayward announced an upcoming tour dubbed "The Wind Of Heaven" that will take The Moody Blues frontman to various states in the U.S. This 13-date trek begins on February 8, 2017 in Alexandria, VA and ends on March 5 with two shows in San Antonio, TX, with additional stops in Texas, as well as in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.

December 20, 2016: Music Stars Lend Support To 'We Are Not Afraid' Campaign

Hundreds of rock/pop stars and other entertainers released a concert video in support of the recently-launched campaign, "We Are Not Afraid," to aid victims of religious and political persecution around the world. Among the many artists featured in the video are Bono, Jackson Browne, Eric Burdon, David Crosby, Dion, Donald Fagen, Peter Frampton, Peter Gabriel, Sam Moore, Graham Nash, John Oates, Yoko Ono, Keith Richards, Linda Ronstadt, Todd Rundgren, Bruce Springsteen, Ringo Starr, Sting, Joe Walsh, and Brian Wilson, plus members of The Cars, The Doors, Heart, Jefferson Airplane, Queen, and The Zombies. December 22, 2016: Dave Davies Of The Kinks Announces 2017 Shows

Dave Davies of The Kinks announced three shows in the U.S. that begin on April 8, 2017 in St. Charles, IL and end on April 20 in Londonderry, NH, with a stop in Provincetown, MA (April 20). Davies will perform both Kinks classics and new material, and he will be celebrating three upcoming releases: a collaborative album with his son titled "Open Road," a solo album due out later in 2017, and a new documentary titled "Dave Davies: Strangers."
