During the week of January 24, 2016, fans bade a final farewell to famed singer, songwriter, and guitarist Paul Kantner who co-founded both Jefferson Airplane and its spinoff, Jefferson Starship.

The Steve Miller Band announced its first U.S. show dates for this year which start this February. Brian Wilson will be launching his 50th anniversary "Pet Sounds" tour beginning this March with a concert in Australia before returning to the U.S. for an extended tour leg starting in June. Santana and Journey will be co-headlining a series of concerts beginning this April in New York City. Also that month, Alice Cooper will be launching a North American tour which will take him to various U.S. states and Canada. Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band announced a U.S. tour that kicks off this June. Also, John Fogerty announced a residency at The Venetian in Las Vegas beginning this September.

"The Polydor Singles: 1975-2015," the final installment of a series of box sets of singles by The Who, will be coming out this May.

Also that week, it was announced that the late songwriter/producer Bert Berns will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and will be honored with the Ahmet Ertegun Award for Lifetime Achievement. Burton Cummings of The Guess Who will be among this year's inductees into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame this April. Also, Kris Kristofferson, B.B. King, and Bonnie Raitt will be inducted into the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame this October.

Finally, The Eagles made their debut on the Billboard's Artist 100 chart at #10 in the wake of the recent passing of Glenn Frey.

This trek begins on March 26, 2016 in Auckland, Australia, with stops in Japan, the U.K., and Spain, before Wilson returns to the U.S. where he will begin an extended tour leg on June 14 in Burlington, VT. January 25, 2016: Alice Cooper Announces 2016 North American Tour

Alice Cooper will soon be launching a North American tour which will take him to various U.S. states and Canada. Dubbed "Spend The Night With Alice Cooper," this 14-date trek begins on April 29, 2016 in Biloxi, MS and ends on May 21 in Rama, ON, Canada, with stops in Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. Afterwards, Cooper and his supergroup, the Hollywood Vampires, will head to Portugal to perform on May 27 and then to London to co-headline the U.K.'s Stone Free Festival on June 19.

January 26, 2016: Singles Box Set By The Who To Be Released

The fourth and last installment of singles by The Who will be coming out on May 6, 2016. Titled "The Polydor Singles: 1975-2015," this collection of 15 seven-inch singles includes such classics as "Who Are You" and "Squeeze Box," plus various live performances and a 20-page booklet.

January 26, 2016: Ringo Starr Announces U.S. Tour

Ringo Starr will be launching a tour this summer that will take the former Beatle and his All Starr Band to various states in the U.S. This trek begins on June 3, 2016 in Syracuse, NY and ends on July 2 in Los Angeles, CA, with additional stops in California and New York, as well as in Colorado, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Washington, D.C. So far, 20 shows have been conformed, with more expected to be announced soon.

January 27, 2016: Santana And Journey Announce Co-Headlining Tour Dates

Santana and Journey will be co-headlining three upcoming shows which begin on April 13, 2016 in New York City. The remaining two shows will take place on April 15 and 16 in Uncasville, CT and Allentown, PT, respectively.

January 27, 2016: John Fogerty Announces Fall Las Vegas Residency

John Fogerty announced an upcoming residency this fall at The Venetian, making this his second Las Vegas residency to date. The former CCR frontman will give nine shows from September 14, 2016 through October 1. Tickets go on sale starting February 5.

January 27, 2016: Eagles Debut At #10 On Billboard Artist 100 Chart

The Eagles debuted on the Billboard Artist 100 chart at #10 this week in the wake of the recent passing of founding member, Glenn Frey. Created in 2014, the Billboard Artist 100 chart provides a measure of a band's or artist's activity in sales, airplay, and online streaming. Frey himself also debuted the same week as a solo act on this chart at #64.

January 28, 2016: Burton Cummings To Be Inducted Into Canadian Music Hall Of Fame

Among this year's inductees into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame will be Burton Cummings, the former frontman and a founding member of The Guess Who. The induction ceremonies will take place April 3, 2016 in Calgary, AB, Canada, during the Juno Awards ceremonies. The Guess Who were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1987.

January 28, 2016: Bert Berns To Be Inducted Into Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

Acclaimed late songwriter/producer Bert Berns will be inducted this year into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and he will also be honored with the Ahmet Ertegun Award for Lifetime Achievement. Among the many hit songs he wrote or co-wrote were "Twist And Shout," "Hang On Sloopy," and "Cry Baby." His production credits include The Isley Brothers' "Twist And Shout," The Drifters' "Under The Boardwalk," and Them's "Here Comes The Night." He was only 38 when he died of a heart attack in December 1967.

January 28, 2016: Kris Kristofferson To Be Inducted Into Austin City Limits Hall Of Fame

Kris Kristofferson, Bonnie Raitt, and the late B.B. King are this year's inductees into the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame. The 3rd annual induction ceremonies are set to take place October 12, 2016 at ACL Live at Austin's Moody Theater.

January 28, 2016: Founding Jefferson Airplane Member Paul Kantner Passes Away

Famed singer, songwriter, and guitarist Paul Kantner died on January 28, 2016 at age 74 of multiple organ failure after suffering a heart attack days earlier He co-founded both Jefferson Airplane and its spinoff, Jefferson Starship, and led both bands through their respective heydays. He was also a member of Hot Tuna, a band originally made up of Jefferson Airplane members which still performs to the present day. In 1985, he co-founded the short-lived KBC Band with other Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship members. He re-formed Jefferson Starship in 1991 and continued to tour and record with the band through 2015.

In 1996, Kantner was inducted along with Jefferson Airplane into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

January 29, 2016: Steve Miller Band Announces First U.S. Tour Dates

The Steve Miller Band announced its first U.S. show dates for this year. Eight shows through mid-April have been confirmed so far, with the first one to take place February 28, 2016 in Panama City, FL. Other stops will include various cities in Florida, California, and Nevada, and more shows are expected to be announced soon. The band is among this year's inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
