During the week of May 8, 2016, it was announced that Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend of The Who will be honored by UCLA with this year's George and Ira Gershwin Award for Lifetime Musical Achievement.

Merle Haggard's final song, "Kern River Blues," which was recorded about two months prior to his passing (April 6, 2016), is set to be released later this month. It will make its debut on SiriusXM's Willie's Roadhouse channel and will be available for download. Also, a Kris Kristofferson box set titled "The Complete Monument & Columbia Album Collection" will be coming out this June in celebration of his upcoming 80th birthday.

Later this month, James Taylor will launch a North American tour in support of his 2015 album, "Before This World," and Eddie Money will also begin a U.S. tour. Also, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top will headline the 6th installment of the Skyville Live online concert series which will be streamed live on AOL.com. In June, this year's "Happy Together" tour, to be headlined by The Turtles, will be hitting the road, covering many states across the U.S. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band announced a new U.S. leg for their 2016 itinerary beginning in August. Also, due to the overwhelming response to the recently-announced music festival, "Desert Trip," a second weekend has been scheduled for this October.

Also that week, NBC announced a new TV series titled "Dolly Partonís Christmas Of Many Colors: Circle Of Love," a sequel to the hugely-popular "Coat Of Many Colors" which is expected to make its premiere sometime during the 2016 holidays.

Finally, Willie Nelson and Mavis Staples were announced as being among the featured performers at this year's Austin City Limits Festival Hall of Fame Inductions and Celebration which takes place this October. This year's honorees are B.B. King, Bonnie Raitt and Kris Kristofferson.

May 8, 2016: 2016 'Happy Together' Tour To Hit The Road

This year's "Happy Together" tour, to be headlined by The Turtles, will be hitting the road on June 3, 2016 in Biloxi, MS. This 52-date trek, which ends on September 3 in Ralston, NE, will also cover Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. Featured bands and artists will also include Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, The Cowsills, The Spencer Davis Group, Chuck Negron of Three Dog Night, and Mark Lindsay of Paul Revere & The Raiders. May 9, 2016: Bruce Springsteen Announces New U.S. Leg For River Tour

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band announced a new U.S. leg for their 2016 itinerary dubbed "The River Tour." This 8-date trek begins on August 23, 2016 in East Rutherford, NJ and ends on September 14 in Foxborough, MA, with stops in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Prior to this trek, the New Jersey rockers have a series of show dates lined up in Europe.

May 10, 2016: James Taylor Launches North American Tour

James Taylor will soon launch a North American tour in support of his 2015 chart-topping album, "Before This World." This 44-date trek begins on May 10, 2016 in London, ON, Canada and ends on August 3 in Boston, MA, with additional stops in Massachusetts and Ontario, as well as in Arizona, California, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Minnesota, Montana, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, North and South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Washington State, plus several Canadian provinces. Proceeds from his shows in Alberta, Canada will go to the Canadian Red Cross to aid those affected by the recent wildfires in the Fort McMurray area.

May 11, 2016: Merle Haggard's Final Song To Be Released

Merle Haggard's final song, "Kern River Blues," is set to be released on May 12, 2016. This song, which features his son Ben on guitar, was recorded February 9, 2016, about two months prior to his passing. "Kern River Blues" will make its debut on SiriusXM's Willie's Roadhouse channel, then will be available for download on MerleHaggard.com and iTunes.

May 12, 2016: Roger Daltrey And Pete Townshend To Receive George And Ira Gershwin Award

Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend of The Who will be honored by UCLA with this year's George and Ira Gershwin Award for Lifetime Musical Achievement. This prestigious award was established in 1988 by the UCLA Student Alumni Association in memory of the Gershwin brothers who, in 1936, adopted their tune, "Strike Up The Band," as the UCLA Bruins' fight song. The awards ceremonies will take place May 21, 2016 at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion as part of the university's 2016 Spring Sing event.

May 13, 2016: Willie Nelson, Mavis Staples To Perform At ACL Hall Of Fame

Willie Nelson and Mavis Staples are among the featured performers at this year's Austin City Limits Festival Hall of Fame Inductions and Celebration. This event, which will follow two consecutive weekends of the ACL Fest, is set to take place October 12, 2016 at the Moody Theater. This year's ACL honorees are B.B. King, Bonnie Raitt and Kris Kristofferson.
