During the week of October 23, 2016, fans bade a final farewell to 1960s pop singer and teen idol Bobby Vee famous for "Take Good Care Of My Baby," "Rubber Ball," "The Night Has A Thousand Eyes," and other hits.
Foreigner announced a North American tour starting later this month. Foghat has a series of show dates lined up for later this year beginning in November. The Rock Pack, a musical collective featuring current and former members of Cheap Trick, Santana, Foreigner, and other classic rock bands, will give a special one-off concert in Phoenix, AZ in December. In support of his latest album, "Keep Me Singing," Van Morrison announced a series of new show dates for next January. ZZ Top announced an extension of its tour into 2017 with shows scheduled for next February and March.
Foghat's latest album, "Under The Influence," which first came out last June on CD and as a digital download, has just been released on vinyl. Elton John announced a new vinyl box set to be released this November and available exclusively through Burberry. This year's Black Friday Record Store Day takes place on November 25, 2016, with The Beach Boys, Alice Cooper, Jerry Garcia, Jimi Hendrix, and The Kinks among the many oldies bands and artists with limited-edition vinyl offerings. Coming out this December are a new album by Neil Young titled Peace Trail," a new archival Doors box set titled "London Fog 1966," and two Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers box sets, "The Complete Studio Albums Volume 1 (1976-1991)" and "The Complete Studio Albums Volume 2 (1994-2014)."
Also that week, it was announced that Joe Perry of Aerosmith will be honored with the prestigious Les Paul Award next January at the 32nd annual NAMM Technical Excellence & Creativity (TEC) Awards in Anaheim, CA.

October 24, 2016: Foghat To Release New Album On Vinyl, Show Dates Announced
Foghat's latest album, "Under The Influence," which first came out last June on CD and as a digital download, has just been released on vinyl. Highlights include new original songs by the band, a remake of the band's signature song, "Slow Ride," and covers of Marvin Gaye's "Heard It Through The Grapevine" and songs by Savoy Brown. Foghat also has a series of show dates lined up for later this year beginning November 4 in Biloxi, MS through December 17 in Santa Rosa, CA, with stops in Florida, Nevada, and Pennsylvania. October 24, 2016: Foreigner To Launch Tour And Publish Biography
Foreigner announced a tour beginning October 24, 2016 in Boston, MA and ending November 19 in Cedar Falls, IA, with stops in California, Kansas, and New York, plus Ontario, Canada. Also, to commemorate the band's upcoming 40th anniversary, a biography of the band titled "A Foreigner's Tale" as told by co-founding member Mick Jones will be published sometime next year and available at ForeignerBook.com.
October 24, 2016: Bobby Vee Passes Away
Famed pop singer and 1960s teen idol Bobby Vee died on October 24, 2016 at age 73 from complications of Alzheimer's in a Rogers, MN hospice care facility. He had a long string of hits from 1959-1970 that included "Rubber Ball" (1961), "The Night Has A Thousand Eyes" (1963), "Come Back When You Grow Up" (1967), and his signature song, the chart-topping "Take Good Care Of My Baby" (1961).
Born Robert Velline in Fargo, ND, he began his music career at age 15 as a stand-in for his idol, Buddy Holly, after the 1959 plane crash that also took the lives of Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper. He debuted on the charts with "Suzie Baby" (1959), a song he wrote that was inspired by Bubby Holly's "Peggy Sue." Vee's fame took off shortly thereafter with "Devil Or Angel" (1960).
A popular teen idol, Vee had also appeared in a number of movies from the early-mid 1960s, including "Swingin' Along," "Play It Cool," "Just For Fun," and "C'mon, Let's Live A Little." He was inducted into the Hit Parade Hall of Fame in 2009 and the Rockabilly Hall of Fame in 2011.
Early in Vee's career, Bob Dylan had briefly played in his band, The Shadows, and he has fond memories of the singer. In a 2013 concert, Dylan spoke of Vee, who was in the audience, as being
the most beautiful person I've ever been on the stage with, and performed a cover of his first hit, "Suzie Baby."
October 25, 2016: ZZ Top Announces New 2017 Tour Dates
ZZ Top announced an extension of its tour into the next year. So far, 10 new shows have been scheduled beginning February 19, 2017 in Greenville, SC and ending March 14 in Macon, GA, with stops in Kentucky, Louisiana, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Washington, D.C. To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the release of Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers' self-titled debut album, two limited-edition vinyl box sets that include all of Tom Petty's studio albums, both as a solo performer and with The Heartbreakers, will be coming out on December 9, 2016. October 26, 2016: Van Morrison Announces New Show Dates For 2017
In support of his latest album, "Keep Me Singing," which came out in September, Van Morrison has announced a series of new show dates for early 2017. He will kick off the new year with two shows in Las Vegas that take place January 13 and 4, 2017, followed by three shows in Clearwater, FL to take place January 17-19. In addition, Morrison released a new video featuring a song from his album titled "Every Time I See A River" which can be viewed on his official YouTube channel.
October 26, 2016: Elton John To Release New Limited-Edition Vinyl Box Set
Elton John announced a new limited-edition vinyl box set to be released this November. This box set, which includes six remastered versions of the singer's albums from 1970-2001, will be available exclusively at Burberry stores around the world and online at Burberry.com. The collection, which spans Elton John's self-titled 1970 album through "Songs From The West Coast" (2001), includes such early classics as "Madman Across The Water" (1971) and "Captain Fantastic " (1975).
October 27, 2016: Neil Young To Release New Album
A new album by Neil Young titled Peace Trail" is due out on December 2, 2016. Highlights of this 10-track collection include the recently YouTube-debuted protest song, "Indian Givers," plus several other songs that Young has been performing at his recent concert including "Show Me," "Texas Rangers," "Terrorist Suicide Hang Gliders," and the album's title track.

October 27, 2016: New Archival Doors Live Album To Be Released
Coming out on December 9, 2016 is a new archival Doors box set that captures a May 1966 performance by the band at a Sunset Strip nightclub known as London Fog. Titled "London Fog 1966," highlights of this limited-edition package include early versions of "Strange Days," "You Make Me Real," and other previously unreleased songs by The Doors.
