During the week of September 4, 2016, Barbra Streisand topped the Billboard 200 with "Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway," making this her 11th no. 1 album to date on this chart.
Later this month, ex-Grateful Dead member Bob Weir will release a new solo album titled "Blue Mountain." In October, Frankie Valli will release his first-ever solo Christmas album titled "‘Tis The Seasons." Also that month, "Skydog: The Duane Allman Retrospective," originally released on CD in 2013, will be coming out as a limited edition vinyl set. Also due out are "The Wonder Of You," a set of Elvis Presley songs recorded by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and "Live A The House of Blues" which captures a reunion concert in March 2016 by the original surviving members of Santana. In November, a set of Lou Reed albums from the 1970s and 1980s titled "Lou Reed: The RCA & Arista Vinyl Collection, Vol. 1" will be reissued on vinyl.
The Box Tops announced a series of shows for the remainder of 2016 that begin later this month. The Rolling Stones announced a second show in Las Vegas for this October. Also that month, Stevie Nicks and The Pretenders will launch a joint North American tour, and Bob Weir will begin a U.S. tour in support of his latest album. In December, Donovan will headline the Theatre Within's 36th annual John Lennon Tribute Concert where he will also be honored with the John Lennon Real Love Award
Also that week, it was announced that Bob Weir will be honored later this month with a Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's Americana Honors & Awards. In October, ex-Eagles guitarist Don Felder will be inducted into this year's Nashville's Musicians Hall of Fame and will be presented with the Iconic Riff Award.
Finally, an expanded edition of George Harrison's 1980 book, "I Me Mine," will be coming out in October.

Barbra Streisand topped the Billboard 200 this week with "Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway," making this her 11th #1 album to date on this chart. She currently holds the record for the most #1 albums on the Billboard 200 by a female artist and also has the longest span between first and most recent #1 albums at 51 years, 10 months, and 7 days. She is also the only artist with at least one #1 album during every decade since the 1960s. Streisand and Bruce Springsteen are tied at #3 for the most #1 albums of any act, with The Beatles and Jay Z taking the #1 and #2 spots, respectively.
September 6, 2016: Duane Allman 'Skydog' Compilation To Be Released On Vinyl
"Skydog: The Duane Allman Retrospective," a seven-CD set released in 2013, will be coming out as a limited edition vinyl set on October 28, 2016. Highlights include various songs from the Allman Brothers Band catalog and Allman's early psychedelic bands, The Allman Joys and The Hour Glass. Also featured in this collection are songs from his days with Derek & the Dominos and Delaney & Bonnie, plus various recordings as a session musician with a number of top bands and artists. September 6, 2016: Stevie Nicks And Pretenders To Launch Joint Tour
Stevie Nicks and The Pretenders will soon launch a joint tour that will take them to various parts of North America. Dubbed "The 24 Karat Gold Tour," this trek, which currently includes 27 confirmed show dates, begins on October 25, 2016 in Phoenix, AZ and ends on December 18 in Inglewood, CA, with additional stops in California, as well as in Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New York, North and South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington State, and Washington, D.C., plus British Columbia and Ontario, Canada. While on tour, Nicks will be promoting her most recent albums, "In Your Dreams" (2011) and "24 Karat Gold: Songs From The Vault" (2014).
September 7, 2016: Box Tops To Launch Tour
The Box Tops, which recently reformed with two of its original members and began performing again earlier this year, announced its upcoming shows for the remainder of 2016. The band has five dates confirmed so far beginning September 17 in Westbury, NY and ending November 5 in The Villages, FL, with stops in North Carolina and Wisconsin, plus an additional one in Florida. The Box Tops also announced its plans to celebrate the band's 50th anniversary of "The Letter" with more concerts in 2017.
September 7, 2016: Santana Classic Lineup Reunion Show Recordings To Be Released
On March 21, 2016, the original surviving members of Santana gave a reunion concert at Las Vegas' House of Blues which will be coming out October 21 as DVD/CD and Blu-ray/CD sets. Titled "Live At The House Of Blues," highlights include such classics as "Evil Ways" and "Black Magic Woman" as well as many newer songs.
September 8, 2016: George Harrison's 'I Me Mine' Expanded Edition To Be Published
An expanded edition of George Harrison's 1980 book, "I Me Mine," will be coming out on October 18, 2016. Titled "I Me Mine - The Extended Edition," this 400-page book includes handwritten song lyrics, photos, and written commentaries and memoirs of various facets of the late Beatles guitarist's personal and professional life. September 8, 2016: Frankie Valli To Release Christmas Album
Frankie Valli will release his first-ever solo Christmas album on October 14, 2016. Titled "‘Tis The Seasons," this holiday collection includes new arrangements of such old chestnuts as "White Christmas," "Joy To The World," and "Frosty The Snowman." Valli previously released a number of Christmas albums with The Four Seasons starting in 1962 with "The 4 Seasons Greetings."
September 8, 2016: Rolling Stones Add Second Las Vegas Show To 2016 Itinerary
The Rolling Stones announced a second show in Las Vegas, NV to take place October 22, 2016. This latest addition will follow the band's sold-out first Las Vegas show scheduled for October 19.
September 9, 2016: Lou Reed Albums Set To Be Released On Vinyl
A set of Lou Reed albums from the 1970s and 1980s will be reissued on 150-gram vinyl November 18, 2016. Titled "Lou Reed: The RCA & Arista Vinyl Collection, Vol. 1," this collection includes "Transformer" (1972), "Berlin" (1973), "Rock n Roll Animal" (1974), "Coney Island Baby" (1975), "Street Hassle" (1978), and "The Blue Mask" (1982).
September 9, 2016: Bob Weir To Receive Lifetime Achievement Honor And Release New Album
Ex-Grateful Dead member Bob Weir will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's Americana Honors & Awards, which takes place September 21, 2016 in Nashville, TN. Weir will also be releasing a new solo album titled "Blue Mountain" which is due out on September 30. He will support this album with a U.S. tour which begins on October 7 in San Rafael, CA and ends on October 20 in Chicago, IL, with additional stops in California, as well as in New York, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee.

September 10, 2016: Don Felder To Be Inducted Into Nashville's Musicians Hall Of Fame
Ex-Eagles guitarist Don Felder will be inducted into this year's Nashville's Musicians Hall of Fame. Felder will be presented with the Iconic Riff Award for his contributions to The Eagles' chart-topping 1977 hit, "Hotel California."
