Al Downing (January 9, 1940 - July 4, 2005), a.k.a. Big Al Downing, was a highly acclaimed and veteran singer, songwriter, and pianist who began as a session musician for Wanda Jackson before becoming famous as a solo artist beginning in the early 1960s. His best known songs include "You'll Never Miss The Water (Till The Well Runs Dry)" (1963, duet with "Little Esther" Phillips) and "I'll Be Holding On" (1975), which topped the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart.
