Alfred Drake (October 7, 1914 - July 25, 1992, b. Alfred Capurro) was a highly acclaimed singer and actor of stage and TV who became famous beginning in the 1930s. He is best known for his starring roles in the original Broadway productions of "Oklahoma!" and "Kiss Me, Kate," as well as for his Tony-winning role as Hajj in "Kismet." He had a Top 20 hit with "The Surrey With The Fringe On Top" (1944), a cut from "Oklahoma! Original Cast Album" (1943) which became the only full-length album in pop music history to make the singles charts.
