The English Congregation

ABOUT

The Congregation was an English vocal pop group formed by Roger Cook and Roger Greenaway, with lead vocals provided by Brian Keith, that became famous during the early 1970s. They are best known for the Cook/Greenaway-penned "Softly Whispering I Love You" (1972), which made the U.S. Top 40 and U.K. Top 5 and also became a top hit in many other countries worldwide. The band recorded as The English Congregation in the U.S. to avoid confusion with The Mike Curb Congregation who also recorded their own version of "Softly Whispering I Love You."
