Jan August was a pianist and xylophonist who became famous during the late 1940s and early 1950s. His best known songs include two Top 10 instrumental hits, "Miserlou" (1946) and "Bewitched" (1950). With Richard Hayman, he later also had a hit in 1956 with "A Theme From The 'Three Penny Opera."
