John Mayall (November 29, 1933 - July 22, 2024, b. John Brumwell Mayall) was a highly acclaimed and veteran English blues and rock singer, songwriter, guitarist, harmonica player, keyboardist and producer with a career spanning nearly seven decades. In the 1960s, he formed John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, an influential band with a lineup that included, at various times, such top blues and blues rock artists as Jack Bruce, Eric Clapton, and Mick Fleetwood. As a solo artist, Mayall is best known in the U.S. for the rollicking and bluesy "Don't Waste My Time" (1969). Dubbed the "Godfather of the British blues," he was appointed OBE for his services to music and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2024.
