Muir Mathieson (January 24, 1911 - August 2, 1975, b. James Muir Mathieson) was a highly acclaimed English arranger, conductor, and composer who spent most of his career as the musical director for various British film studios. As a recording artist, he is best known in the U.S. for his hit instrumental cover of "Lola's Theme" (1956), featured in the soundtrack to "Trapeze" (1956) starring Burt Lancaster, Tony Curtis, and Gina Lollobrigida. Mathieson was appointed OBE for his services to music and was a governor of the British Film Institute.
