Female disco-soul-funk group led by Patti LaBelle. First recorded as the Blue Belles, then as Patti LaBelle and Her Blue Belles. Shortened name to LaBelle in 1971. Best known songs include "Lady Marmalade" (1975). After LaBelle disbanded in 1977, Patti LaBelle went solo and had many hits through the 1980s and 1990s including "On My Own" (1989) and "When You Talk About Love" (1997).
