Placido Domingo (b. 1941) is a celebrated Spanish opera tenor who became famous beginning in the late 1960s when he made his debut in 1968 at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. He made a splash on the Pop/Rock charts in 1982 with "Perhaps Love," performed as a duet with John Denver, which made the Top 40 on the Adult Contemporary chart. Domingo followed this success with many more recordings of popular and Latin music.
