Spencer Davis Group - Songs

ABOUT

The Spencer Davis Group was a highly acclaimed and influential English blues-based rock band that became famous during the late 1960s. They topped the U.K. charts in 1966 with "Keep On Running" and "Somebody Help Me" before scoring two Top 10 smashes in both the U.S. and U.K. with "Gimme Some Lovin'" (1966) and "I'm A Man" (1967). Many of their songs were later recorded by such bands as The Allman Brothers, The Blues Brothers, Chicago, Three Dog Night, and Traffic.

Formed in Birmingham in 1963 by guitarist Spencer Davis (July 17, 1939 - October 19, 2020), the original lineup also consisted of Pete York (drums) and brothers Muff Winwood (bass guitar) and Steve Winwood (keyboards) who served as lead singer. Steve Winwood left in 1967 to form Traffic and the Spencer Davis Group disbanded in 1969, with a number of reunions over the years.
