Peter Gabriel (b. 1950) is a highly acclaimed and veteran English singer, songwriter, musician, and activist who became famous beginning in the late 1960s as the original frontman of Genesis. As a solo artist, his best known songs include the chart-topping funk rocker, "Sledgehammer" (1986), the intense "Big Time" (1986), and the hauntingly beautiful and worldbeat-influenced "In Your Eyes" (1986, 1989), the latter featuring a part at the end of the song performed by Senegalese singer Youssou N'Dourin in his native Wolof. Gabriel's numerous honors and accolades include being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame both as a solo artist (2014) and as a member of Genesis (2010).
