Barbara Fairchild - Songs

ABOUT

Barbara Fairchild (b. 1950) is a veteran country and gospel singer and songwriter with a great deal of crossover appeal who became famous during the early 1970s. She is best known for the Grammy-nominated "Teddy Bear Song" (1973), which topped the Country charts and made the Pop/Rock Top 40. Her long string of hits on the Country charts from 1969-1986 also includes "Kid Stuff" (1973), a minor Pop/Rock hit that made the Country Top 5.

Born in Knobel, Arkansas, she began singing country music as a child. In 1963, she moved to St. Louis, Missouri and became a regular on a local TV show soon after while still in her teens. After graduating high school in 1968, she relocated to Nashville and landed a recording contract with Columbia the following year. After her peak in commercial fame in the 1970s, she later switched to gospel music and was inducted into the Christian Music Hall of Fame in 2009.
