ABOUT

Donna Fargo (b. 1945) is a highly acclaimed and veteran country pop singer-songwriter with a sweet, wholesome style who became famous during the early 1970s. (1972) and the heartfelt "Funny Face" (1972), both of which topped the Country charts and became her greatest Pop/Rock crossover successes. Fargo's long string of mostly self-penned hits, which continued on the Country charts through 1991, also includes such chart toppers as "Superman" (1973), "You Were Always There" (1973), and "You Can't Be A Beacon (If Your Light Don't Shine)" (1974).

During the late 1960s, she launched her music career as Donna Fargo while still teaching, performing at local clubs in Southern California. At that time, she met Stan Silver who became her manager and later her husband. In 1978, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and experienced a brief illness, but with medical treatment and her husband's help, made it back to full health, returning to a less strenuous schedule the following year. Fargo has continued to perform and record to the present day, and she is the author of a number of books and thousands of greeting cards. Her numerous honors and accolades over the years include one Grammy, one CMA award, and five ACM awards.
