ABOUT

Jim Henson (September 24, 1936 - May 16, 1990) was a puppeteer, animator, creative producer, and director who achieved worldwide fame as the creator of the Muppets known from their many appearances in various TV shows and movies since the 1950s. Beginning in 1969, they gained further popularity through "Sesame Street" before "The Muppet Show" became the flagship series in 1976.

Henson was also the voice behind several of the best known Muppets characters that included Ernie and Kermit, and he became famous as a recording artist during the 1970s performing as these characters in two Top 40 novelty smashes, "Rubber Duckie" (1970, as Ernie) and "Rainbow Connection" (1979, as Kermit). In addition, Henson contributed to the soundtracks of such films as "The Muppet Movie" (1979) and "The Great Muppet Caper" (1981), performing as Kermit, Ernie, and other characters. He also created numerous musical albums for "The Muppet Show" and "Sesame Street," enriching children's entertainment with a blend of humor and heartfelt themes. Even after his passing, Jim Henson's legacy continued with performances in "Muppet Christmas Carol" (1992), where his characters remained beloved through enduring musical contributions.
