Freddie And The Dreamers - Songs

ABOUT

Freddie & The Dreamers were a veteran English beat/pop band with a flair for comedy that became famous during the mid 1960s. On stage, the group performed synchronized wacky dance routines enlivened by the zany antics of lead singer Freddie Garrity (November 14, 1936 - May 19, 2006) who would bounce around with arms and legs flailing. Best known for the upbeat "I'm Telling You Now" (1965), which topped the charts in the U.S. and reached #2 in the U.K., other big hits include "Do The Freddie" (1965), a nod to the short-lived dance craze inspired by Garrity's goofy onstage persona.

Formed in 1962 in Manchester by Garrity while he was working as a milkman, the original lineup also consisted of Pete Birrell (bass), Roy Crewdson (rhythm guitar), Bernie Dwyer (drums), and Derek Quinn (lead guitar). By 1971, Freddie & The Dreamers had disbanded, and Garrity and Birrell reformed the group soon after in the mid 1970s, releasing three albums in 1976, 1978, and 1983. They continued to tour and perform through 2000.
