ABOUT
James Darren (b. 1936) is a veteran TV and movie actor, singer, and director who became famous as a recording artist during the late 1950s and early 1960s. His best known songs include "Goodbye Cruel World" (1961) and "Her Royal Majesty" (1962). The handsome former teen idol made many movie appearances over the years, one of his best known roles being Gidget's boyfriend Moondoggie. He also sang the title songs for all the Gidget movies in which he co-starred. He later had a resurgence in popularity as a singer in 1998 through his appearances on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" portraying Vic Fontaine, a holographic crooner and adviser.
