Major Harris (February 9, 1947 - November 9, 2012) was an R&B singer associated with the Philadelphia soul sound with a great deal of crossover appeal who became famous during the mid 1970s. He is best known for the soulful ballad, "Love Won't Let Me Wait" (1975), which topped the R&B charts, made the Pop/Rock Top 5, and went gold. His long string of hits, which continued through 1983 on the R&B charts, also include "I Got Over Love" (1975), "Jealousy" (1976), and "All My Life" (1983).

Born Major Harris III in Richmond, Virginia, he sang with several different groups early in his career that included Frankie Lymon's Teenagers, The Jarmels, and Nat Turner Rebellion. In the early 1970s, he replaced Randy Cain as a member of The Delfonics then quit the group in 1974 to go solo. Harris later returned to The Delfonics and toured with the group through the 2000s.
