During the week of August 25, 2013, Bob Dylan was featured on the cover of this week's issue of Rolling Stone. The cover story discusses the history and making of Dylan's 1970 album, "Self Portrait," and also traces his career from 1966 through 1973.
Also that week, Paul Stanley of KISS gave a rousing performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at Dodger's Stadium before a Dodgers-Red Sox Game (see video below).
Elton John just released a music video of a song from his upcoming album, "The Diving Board." Cher's upcoming album, "Closer to the Truth," is scheduled to be released next month. Paul McCartney's latest album, "New," is due this October, and he has just released a video of the title track. Also, a new compilation of previously unreleased BBC recordings by the Beatles, "On Air - Live At The BBC Volume 2," will be coming out this November.
A new James Brown biopic which is being co-produced by Mick Jagger is in the works. Chadwick Boseman has been chosen to play the title role.
Maxine Powell, the founding member of Motown Artist Development, was honored by Smokey Robinson at the Motown Museum, along with Martha Reeves, Duke Fakir of the Four Tops and Cal Street of the Velvelettes. Powell was in charge of coaching the various Motown bands and artists on how to walk, talk, dress, and generally conduct themselves onstage.
Finally, the Rolling Stones were named as a favorite band on Match.com, and the band's 1971 hit, "Brown Sugar," made the list of songs in a pre-date anthem playlist created by Match.com and Spotify.
August 25, 2013: Elton John Releases Video For Song From Upcoming Album
On September 24, 2013, Elton John will be releasing a new album, "The Diving Board." He has released a music video for one of this album's songs, "Home Again," a fantasy about a man who ages backwards. Another Elton John video of him performing his 1970 hit, "Your Song," is currently on reddit.com.

August 27, 2013: Paul Stanley Of KISS Sings National Anthem At Dodgers Stadium
Paul Stanley of KISS gave a rousing performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at Dodger's Stadium before a Dodgers-Red Sox game that took place on August 25, 2013. Stanley is not the first member of KISS to open with the national anthem at a baseball game. In 2012, Gene Simmons sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" before an Oakland Raiders game.

August 27, 2013: Title Role Actor For James Brown Biopic Is Chosen
A movie about the life and career of James Brown co-produced by Mick Jagger is currently being made. Chadwick Boseman has been chosen to play the title role. This biopic has been in the works for over a decade, and James Brown had been actively involved in this project before his passing in 2006.

August 28, 2013: Second Volume of BBC Beatles Recordings To Be Released
A second volume of previously unreleased BBC recordings by the Beatles, entitled "On Air - Live at the BBC Volume 2," will be coming out this November. The first "Live At The BBC" volume, which includes 56 songs and 13 dialog tracks from the BBC's Light Programme, was released in 1994. BBC Books will also be releasing a book by Kevin Howlett this October about the Beatles' appearances on the BBC, " The Beatles – The BBC Archives: 1962-1970."

August 28, 2013: Rolling Stones Named As A Favorite Band On Match.com
Many people like to listen to music both during a date and right before as they are making preparations. The Rolling Stones were named in a survey as a favorite band on Match.com both before and during a date. Also, the Stones' "Brown Sugar" made the list of favorite songs in a playlist created by Match.com and Spotify entitled "All Amped Up: The Single Best List of Pre-Date Anthems."

Bob Dylan was featured on the cover of this week's issue of Rolling Stone which came out on August 30, 2013. The cover story, which focuses mainly on the history and making of Dylan's 1970 album, "Self Portrait," also traces his career from 1966 when he had his motorcycle accident to 1973. Also included are interviews with David Crosby, Al Kooper, and others who have worked with Dylan.

August 29, 2013: New Album By Cher Due This September
Cher's upcoming album, "Closer to the Truth," is scheduled to be released next month. The first single from this album, "Woman's World" was released last June. Also included will be a cover of "Dressed To Kill" by Samuel Preston.

August 30, 2013: Maxine Powell, Martha Reeves, And Others Honored At Motown Museum
Maxine Powell was the founding member of Motown Artist Development and in charge of coaching the various Motown bands and artists on how to walk, talk, dress, and generally conduct themselves onstage. Powell, along with Martha Reeves, Duke Fakir of the Four Tops and Cal Street of the Velvelettes, were honored by Smokey Robinson at an event taking place at the Motown Museum for their contributions to this famous record label.
