During the week of July 7, 2013, the Rolling Stones gave their second show in London's Hyde Park this year as part of their "50 And Counting" tour in the U.K. This show was the band's last scheduled performance for 2013, although there is always a possibility that more tour dates will be announced. The previous Hyde Park show, which took place the week before, was the first time the band had performed at that location in 44 years.

Also that week, the Kinks announced that their 1971 album, "Muswell Hillbillies," is to be reissued and will become available this October. Ronald Isley also announced a new studio album to be released this month, to be preceded by the premiere of "My Favorite Thing," one of this album's songs. Also, a new song by the Underachievers, a hip-hop duo from Brooklyn, was just released which uses samples of the Rolling Stones' classic 1970 hit, "Gimme Shelter."

The Eagles, who just launched a tour earlier this month, will be joined by Bernie Leadon, this band's original guitarist from the 1970s. Styx and REO Speedwagon, who are currently on tour with Ted Nugent, so far have raised over $100,000 to benefit victims of this April's Boston Marathon bombings. For the first time ever, Willie Nelson will be performing his classic 1978 album, "Stardust," in its entirely this August at the Hollywood Bowl. Stevie Wonder will be among those headlining this year's Global Citizen Festival in New York's Central Park this September. Also, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, and Barry Manilow, who are all currently on tour, have had to postpone shows this summer due to illness and/or bad weather. They all hope to be back on track very soon.

Finally, we came across something really cute and funny that was just reported in the news last week. During the 4th of July weekend, Steven Tyler accidentally wandered into a wedding reception in Washington, D.C., where he was giving a show. The affable Aerosmith frontman ended up being the life of the party, and many photos were taken of Tyler with various guests. According to the groom, the festivities might have gone on all night had they not been cut short by Tyler's ornery bodyguard.



July 7, 2013: Rolling Stones' 'Gimme Shelter' To Be Sampled On New Song

Samples of the Rolling Stones 1970 hit, "Gimme Shelter," are part of a new song by the Underachievers, a hip-hop duo from Brooklyn. This song, entitled "The Proclamation," uses this Rolling Stones classic as the background for rap lyrics.

July 8, 2013: The Rolling Stones Return to Hyde Park After 44 Years

The Rolling Stones gave their first show at Hyde Park after 44 years on July 6, 2013. Before they came on stage, a video with footage from their 1969 concert at Hyde Park was shown on big screens. They were joined on stage by Gary Clark Jr., the Voice Chamber Choir, and the London Youth Choir for some of their numbers.

July 9, 2013: Kinks 1971 Album To Be Reissued

The Kinks will be reissuing their 1971 album, "Muswell Hillbillies," on Sanctuary Records. It will become available on October 15, 2013 on vinyl, CD, cassette, and digital download. This reissue will include the original 12 songs, plus 13 bonus tracks of demos, remixes and live performances.

July 9, 2013: Elton John Diagnosed With Appendicitis

Elton John has been diagnosed with appendicitis and will be undergoing surgery sometime within the next several weeks. He has canceled a series of summer shows in Europe, and he will resume performing when fully recovered. He hopes to be back on track by September, 2013, when he is scheduled to perform in Leeds and the Isle of Wight before heading to Las Vegas.

July 9, 2013: Bernie Leadon To Tour With Eagles

The Eagles, who just launched a tour earlier this month, will be joined by Bernie Leadon, this band's original guitarist. This will be the first time Leadon has toured with the Eagles since 1975.

July 10, 2013: Steven Tyler Accidentally Crashes A Wedding

During the 4th of July weekend, Steven Tyler accidentally wandered into a wedding reception held in Washington, D.C., where he was giving a show. After he realized his mistake, the affable Aerosmith frontman posed for pictures with the bride and groom (Jeffrey Roseman and Shirley Ramos) and some of the guests. Tyler ended up being the life of the party, and according to Roseman, the festivities might have gone on all night had they not been cut short by Tyler's ornery bodyguard.

July 11, 2013: Stevie Wonder And Others To Headline Global Citizen Festival

On September 28, 2013, Stevie Wonder, along with Alicia Keys, Kings of Leon and John Mayer, will be headlining this year's Global Citizen Festival. This event, to be held in New York City's Central Park, is being spearheaded by the Global Poverty Project, an organization dedicated to the eradication of extreme poverty around the world. July 12, 2013: Willie Nelson To Perform 'Stardust' LP

Willie Nelson will be performing his classic 1978 album, "Stardust," in its entirely for the first time ever, backed by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. This event will take place on August 9th and 10th at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, and both shows will be opened by Lyle Lovett and His Large Band. July 12, 2013: Ronald Isley Premieres New Single

On July 16, 2013, Ronald Isley will be releasing his second studio album, "This Song Is For You." A few days before that, he is scheduled to premiere a single from that album, "My Favorite Thing," a smooth love song featuring R&B singer Kem. Isley will be touring this summer and will be joined by Kem and Frankie Beverly.

July 12, 2013: Aretha Franklin Writes Letter To Fans

This year, Aretha Franklin had to cancel a number of concerts due to health problems, including one upcoming show in Clarkston, MI originally slated for July 27. Franklin wrote a heartfelt letter of apology to her fans, explaining that her medical treatments are lasting longer than she had anticipated.

July 12, 2013: Styx And REO Speedwagon Raise Money For Boston Bombing Victims

Styx and REO Speedwagon, who are currently on tour with Ted Nugent, so far have raised over $100,000 to benefit victims of the Boston Marathon bombings. As part of their fund raising efforts, both bands have offered autographed guitars for charity raffles at their concerts.

July 13, 2013: Barry Manilow Tour Hindered By Ill Heath And Bad Weather

Barry Manilow is currently on tour, but he had to cancel a number of shows this summer in Utah and Colorado because of either illness or bad weather. Manilow wrote a letter of apology to his fans on his Facebook page and explained the reasons for the cancellations. These shows will be rescheduled, and the dates will be announced.
