During the week of October 15, 2017, Record Store Day announced its vinyl releases for this year's Black Friday event to take place November 24 at record stores across the country. Among the offerings are recordings by Chuck Berry, The Byrds, Petula Clark, The Doors, Aretha Franklin, The Grateful Dead, Isaac Hayes, Janis Joplin, Paul McCartney, Procol Harum, Otis Redding, and The Turtles.

Soul legend Sam Moore recently released a new album titled "An American Patriot" which includes many patriotic standards and other songs. Also, Minnie Riperton's classic 1974 album, "Perfect Angel," will be coming out in December as a deluxe reissue.

Billy Joel announced an extension of his long-running residency at NYC's Madison Square Garden into January 2018. Also, Elton John announced the end of his Las Vegas residency, with his final shows to take place beginning next April.

Also that week, the American Music Awards announced that it will honor Diana Ross with its Lifetime Achievement Award for 2017. She will perform at the awards ceremonies to be broadcast November 19 on ABC.

October 16, 2017: Elton John Announces End Of Las Vegas Residency

Elton John announced the end of his long-running Las Vegas residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The final 14 shows will take place beginning April 28, 2018 and ending May 19. By the time the latter show closes, he will have given over 200 performances of "The Million Dollar Piano," which began in 2011. His previous Las Vegas residency, "The Red Piano," ended in 2009.

October 17, 2017: Sam Moore Releases New Album

Soul legend Sam Moore recently released a new studio album titled "An American Patriot" which includes many patriotic standards plus some new and assorted other songs. Highlights include covers of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" and John Lennon's "Imagine" and his rendition of "American The Beautiful" that he performed at President Trump's inauguration. October 18, 2017: Diana Ross To Receive AMA Lifetime Achievement Award

The American Music Awards will honor Diana Ross with its Lifetime Achievement Award for 2017. She will also perform at the ceremony which will be broadcast November 19 on ABC. To date, the Motown legend has won seven AMA awards over the course of her long career. The AMAs were created by Dick Clark in 1973, and the honorees are determined by popular vote.

October 20, 2017: Minnie Riperton Album To Be Reissued

Minnie Riperton's classic 1974 album, "Perfect Angel," will be coming out on December 1, 2017 as a deluxe reissue in commemoration of what would have been the late soul legend's 70th birthday. Titled "Perfect Angel: Deluxe Edition," this collection contains her biggest hit, "Lovin' You," plus 11 bonus tracks that include a duet of "Take A Little Trip" with Stevie Wonder and an alternate version of "Lovin' You." Co-produced by Stevie Wonder and Riperton's husband Richard Rudolph, "Perfect Angel" topped the Billboard R&B albums chart in 1975 and reached #4 on the Billboard 200.

October 20, 2017: Billy Joel To Extend Madison Square Garden Residency Into 2018

Billy Joel announced that he is extending his long-running residency at NYC's Madison Square Garden into early 2018. Since January 2014, The Piano Man has given one show per month at this venue, and he will play his 48th show in this run on January 11, 2018. As to whether or not he plans to further extend his record-setting residency beyond this date is not yet clear, although potential milestone shows are a possibility.
