During the week of September 24, 2017, it was announced that the Ron Howard-directed documentary, "The Beatles: Eight Days A Week -- The Touring Years," will make its TV premiere November 25, 2017 on PBS.
Paul McCartney recently recorded an a cappella version of "Wonderful Christmastime" with Jimmy Fallon which is included on the compilation, "Holidays Rule, Vol. 2," due out in October. Also that month, Cheap Trick will release its first-ever holiday album, "Christmas Christmas." A 50th anniversary re-release of the Doors' second album, "Strange Days," will be coming out in November. Also due out that month is a new Elton John greatest hits collection titled "Diamonds."
Also that week, Neil Young was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. Also, The Moody Blues and Jackson Browne both announced a series of upcoming U.S. shows to take place next January.
Finally, the sitar George Harrison used in the 1965 Beatles' hit, "Norwegian Wood," sold for $62,500 at auction.

September 24, 2017: Paul McCartney Releases Remake Of 'Wonderful Christmastime'
Paul McCartney recently recorded an a cappella version of "Wonderful Christmastime" accompanied by Jimmy Fallon & The Roots. This revised oldies holiday classic is included on the upcoming compilation, "Holidays Rule, Vol. 2," which is due out on October 13, 2017.

September 25, 2017: Cheap Trick To Release Christmas Album
Cheap Trick will release its first-ever holiday album titled "Christmas Christmas" which is due out on October 20, 2017. Highlights include three new Cheap Trick Christmas-themed tunes plus covers of songs by The Kinks, Chuck Berry, and Harry Nilsson.

September 25, 2017: Neil Young Inducted Into Canadian Songwriters Hall Of Fame
Neil Young was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame and was presented this honor by Randy Bachman of The Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive. The awards ceremonies took place on September 23, 2017 in Toronto at the city's Massey Hall.

September 25, 2017: The Doors To Reissue Second Album
A 50th anniversary re-release of the Doors' second album, "Strange Days," will be coming out on November 17, 2017. This platinum-certified album, which peaked at #3 on the Billboard 200 in late 1967, includes the Top 40 hits, "People Are Strange" and "Love Me Two Times."

September 26, 2017: Jackson Browne Announces 2018 Tour Dates

September 27, 2017: Beatles Documentary To Premiere On PBS
Ron Howard's 2016 documentary, "The Beatles: Eight Days A Week -- The Touring Years," will make its TV premiere November 25, 2017 on PBS stations across the country. This film gives an in-depth coverage of the Fab Four's history from 1962-1966 when the band was touring actively. PBS will also air an encore presentation of the 2017 documentary, "Sgt. Pepper's Musical Revolution," which commemorates the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ groundbreaking album.

September 28, 2017: Moody Blues Announce 2018 Tour Dates
The Moody Blues announced a series of shows in the U.S. to take place next January, with seven dates confirmed so far. This upcoming trek begins on January 21, 2018 in Cedar Park, TX and ends on January 31 with the final date of a four-show engagement in Las Vegas. The trek will also include stops in Irving, TX and Tulsa, OK.

September 29, 2017: George Harrison Sitar Sells For $62,500 At Auction
The sitar that George Harrison used in The Beatles' 1965 hit, "Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)," fetched $62,500 at an auction held in Los Angeles on September 28, 2017. "Norwegian Wood" was highly instrumental in the development of raga rock and psychedelic rock and also helped to popularize Indian classical music in the West.
