During the week of October 7, 2018, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced its nominees for 2019 that include Kraftwerk, Stevie Nicks, Roxy Music, Rufus & Chaka Khan, Todd Rundgren, and The Zombies. Nicks was previously inducted into the Rock Hall in 1998 as a member of Fleetwood Mac. From now through December 9, fans can vote for their favorites at Rockhall.com.

Also that week, Cher's latest album, "Dancing Queen," a collection of ABBA covers, debuted on the Billboard 200 at #3. In addition, the list of special vinyl releases for the 2018 edition of Record Store Day's Black Friday event (November 23) was announced. Among this year's offerings are recordings by Eric Clapton, Alice Cooper, The Grateful Dead, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Paul McCartney, Jim Morrison & The Doors, Keith Richards, Todd Rundgren, and Yes.

"Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1," the band's Grammy-winning debut album originally released in 1988, will be coming out as a limited-edition vinyl reissue on November 2, 2018. The Traveling Wilburys were a supergroup formed in the late 1980s consisting of George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, and ELO frontman Jeff Lynne. Ted Nugent announced a new album titled "The Music Made Me Do It" which is due out on November 9. Also, a new Neil Diamond 6-CD box set, "50th Anniversary Collector's Edition," will be coming out on November 30. This 115-track collection includes old favorites plus demos, duets, mono recordings, and 12 previously-unreleased songs.

Also that week, the BBC announced the third installment of its documentary series on David Bowie which will air sometime in 2019. Titled "The First Five Years," this installment will focus on Bowie's early career before he became famous.

Finally, the late and great Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, was honored in a musical tribute led by Gladys Knight as part of the 2018 American Music Awards which aired on October 9.
