August 3, 2020 by Amy Gold

During the week of July 26, 2020, fans bade a final farewell to Bent Fabric (December 7, 1924 - July 28, 2020) who became famous worldwide for the Grammy-winning 1962 smash, "Alley Cat." Born Bent Fabricius-Bjerre in Frederiksberg, Denmark, the famed jazz pianist and composer released a long string of albums and wrote numerous film and TV scores over his long career. He also founded a label in 1950, Metronome Records, which was later sold to Warner Music Group.

Gloria Gaynor, Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle, Nile Rodgers of Chic, and Kathy Sledge of Sister Sledge are among the featured performers at the upcoming Virtual Disco Party to be held on September 15, 2020. Proceeds from this event, which is taking the place of the annual Angel Ball this year due to COVID-19 concerns, will go to Gabrielle's Angel Foundation for Cancer Research. Also that week, AXS TV announced its upcoming "Tom Jones: A Soundstage Special" that captures a 2016 performance by the Welsh pop legend at Chicago's Grainger Studio. Jones' set included such classics as "Delilah," "Green, Green Grass Of Home," "It's Not Unusual," and "Thunderball," plus covers of more contemporary songs. This program will air on August 15, 2020.
