During the week of April 18, 2021, Cheap Trick's latest album, "In Another World," topped the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart. Featured tracks include a cover of John Lennon's 1971 protest song, "Gimme Some Truth."
Styx announced a joint tour with Collective Soul beginning June 18, 2021 in Alpharetta, GA, also covering cities in Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. For more info, visit StyxWorld.com.
Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top will be honored at an all-star concert to take place May 16, 2021 at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry. Among the featured performers are country stars Brad Paisley, Eric Church, and Ronnie Milsap, and Gibbons himself will also take part. This event will be taped and broadcast at some later date to be announced. For more info and tickets, visit opry.com.
Also that week, it was announced that "Rockfield: The Studio On The Farm," a new documentary about the world-famous residential recording facilities in Wales, will make its U.S. theatrical premiere on May 13, 2021 in Van Nuys, CA and will then become available via video on demand beginning May 14. This upcoming film features interviews of Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin, Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath, and other rock greats who recorded at Rockfield. Finally, the week of April 18, 2021 marks the 50th anniversary of the original release of two iconic classic rock albums: The Doors' "L.A. Woman" and The Rolling Stones' "Sticky Fingers." "L.A. Woman," which includes the hits, "Love Her Madly" and "Riders On The Storm," was the last album The Doors recorded with Jim Morrison before his passing. Considered to be one of The Rolling Stones' all-time best albums, "Sticky Fingers," which includes "Brown Sugar" and "Wild Horses," spent four weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 beginning in May 1971.
