During the week of June 20, 2021, Elton John announced new show dates in both Europe and North America for his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour. This extended trek began in September 2018 but was temporarily shelved in early 2020 due to the pandemic. The U.S. leg will resume on July 15, 2022 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, with the final concert to take place November 20 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. For a complete itinerary, visit EltonJohn.com.
Also that week, Joni Mitchell posted a rare video on Twitter (see Tweets below) in which she thanks her fans and reflects on the reception of her critically acclaimed fourth album, "Blue," released 50 years ago.
"Bob Dylan: Odds And Ends," a new documentary about the folk rock legend, has just been released and is available as a digital download and streaming rental from various services. This film, which covers various historic milestones in Dylan's long career, includes archival interviews, promotional videos, and behind-the-scenes footage.
Also that week, it was announced that "Enormous: The Gorge Story," a new documentary about the history of the Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington State, will be shown in theaters for one night only on July 21, 2021, with additional screenings to take place later on in select locations. This movie features interviews with Steve Miller and other artists as well as performance footage of Bob Dylan, Heart, and more.
Finally, the official video for Michael Jackson's 1983 smash, "Billie Jean," reached one billion views on YouTube, making it the late King of Pop's first entry into the billion-view club. A huge hit on MTV upon its original release, "Billie Jean" was the first video made for "Thriller," which remains the best-selling album of all time.
