During the week of April 10, 2022, the Library of Congress announced its list of 25 recordings chosen for induction into the National Recording Registry in 2022. Among this year's song selections are such oldies classics as Nat King Cole's "The Christmas Song," Andy Williams' "Moon River," The Four Tops' "Reach Out, I'll Be There," and Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody." New album additions include The Shirelles' "Tonight's The Night" and Linda Ronstadt's "Canciones de Mi Padre."

Also that week, the official New York City premiere of "Harmony," a new musical by Barry Manilow and Bruce Sussman, took place in the Edmond J. Safra Hall Theatre at the Museum of Jewish Heritage. For more info about "Harmony," which is scheduled to run through May 8, visit NYTF.org. Manilow was unfortunately not able to attend the premiere because he had just tested positive for COVID-19.

In conjunction with Record Store Day 2022, Creedence Clearwater Revival will release a limited-edition vinyl single that captures previously unreleased performances from concerts that took place in 1970. This recording, which will feature "Travelin' Band" on Side A b/w "Who'll Stop The Rain," will be available June 18 at participating stores.

Peter Frampton and Dion DiMucci are among the featured performers at Joe Bonamassa's upcoming third annual Stream-A-Thon charity event taking place May 1, 2022. This event, which can be viewed on Bonamassa's YouTube channel and Facebook page, benefits the Fueling Musicians program founded by Bonamassa that helps support musicians in need. Sheryl Crow recently released a cover of the 1969 Rolling Stones song, "Live With Me," that features Mick Jagger playing blues harmonica licks throughout. This song is featured in her new documentary, "Sheryl," and also appears on the companion soundtrack. The movie will make its TV premiere May 6, 2022 on Showtime, and the album, "Sheryl: Music From The Feature Documentary," is also due out the same day.

Also that week, Cannes announced its official lineup for the 2022 film festival taking place May 17-28. Among this year's offerings are three documentaries about oldies music icons: "Elvis" by Baz Luhrmann, "Jerry Lee Lewis: Trouble In Mind" by Ethan Coen, and "Moonage Daydream" by Brett Morgen. The latter movie, which covers the life and music of the late David Bowie, will get another international release after its Cannes premiere before coming to HBO and HBO Max in 2023.

Finally, fans of The Beatles are being asked to share any photos or videos they may have taken of the iconic crosswalk in front of London's Abbey Road Studios for use in a new documentary. Titled "If These Walls Could Sing," this upcoming movie, to be directed by Paul McCartney's daughter Mary, will feature interviews with top musicians as well as never-before-seen views of the interior of the famous recording studio.
