May 1, 2022 by Amy Gold

During the week of April 24, 2022, Live Nation announced its list of over 200 artists to take part in its 2022 Concert Week promotion which will offer low-cost tickets across North America throughout the summer. Among the participants are Aerosmith, The Beach Boys, Alice Cooper, The Doobie Brothers, Foreigner, KISS, Kraftwerk, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Roxy Music, Santana, Steely Dan, Rod Stewart, The Who, and ZZ Top.

As Russia's brutal invasion of Ukraine continues to rage on, an increasing number of performing artists, both veteran and contemporary alike, have been stepping up their support for the Ukrainian people. Foreigner's recent eight-show Las Vegas residency at The Venetian Theatre raised over $100,000 for the American Red Cross' Ukrainian relief initiative as part of the band's partnership with the charitable organization. To date, over three million people have fled Ukraine, and around 18 million are in need of humanitarian aid. For more information, visit RedCross.org.

Carlos Santana and Pete Townshend of The Who are among the featured guests on Audible's upcoming Words + Music series which combines music and storytelling. The series kicks off on May 6, 2022 with "Pete Townshend: Somebody Saved Me" in which he discusses the period between the 1978 passing of Who drummer Keith Moon and the 2002 passing of bassist John Entwistle. The premiere date for the Santana episode will be announced soon.

Also that week, a new CCR documentary was announced which is currently in the works. Titled "Travelin' Band: Creedence Clearwater Revival At The Royal Albert Hall," this upcoming band career retrospective will be narrated by Oscar-winning actor Jeff Bridges, an avid CCR fan. The movie's premiere date has not yet been announced.

Finally, Stevie Wonder will be awarded an honorary doctorate by Wayne State University at the school's 2022 commencement for his achievements and contributions both as a musician and as an advocate for civil rights and for the disabled. The university's commencement ceremonies will take place May 7.
