During the week of December 11, 2022, it was announced that "Homeward Bound - A GRAMMY Salute To The Songs Of Paul Simon" will air December 21 on CBS. This tribute concert, which was taped last April in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Pantages Theater, features special appearances by such veteran artists as Elton John, Stevie Wonder, and Sting, as well as Simon himself.
Also that week, a number of classic holiday oldies re-emerged on the Billboard Hot 100 in that chart's Top 10 just in time for Christmas. Brenda Lee's "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" came in at #2, followed by Bobby Helms' "Jingle Bell Rock" at #3 and Burl Ives' "A Holly Jolly Christmas" at #4.
AXS TV will be ringing in the New Year with several concert specials featuring a number of veteran artists. Among the coming attractions are "KISS Rocks Vegas" airing on New Year's Eve along with other shows featuring more contemporary performers. AXS will then kick off 2023 at midnight with "Stevie Nicks - 24 Karat Gold" in which she performs "Landslide," "Gypsy," and other classics.
Also that week, Paramount+ announced the upcoming docuseries, "Sometimes When We Touch: The Reign, Ruin And Resurrection Of Soft Rock," to premiere January 3, 2023 in the U.S. and Canada. This three-part program, which delves into the enduring popularity of this genre, will feature interviews with such top soft rock acts as Air Supply, Rupert Holmes, and Toni Tennille.
Finally, a Patti LaBelle concert taking place on December 10 at the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee, WI was abruptly cut short by a bomb threat that forced security to rush the R&B legend off the stage and evacuate the nearly full 2,500-seat venue. Everyone was safely evacuated and no explosive devices were found. As to possible originators of the bomb threat and other as-yet unknown facts regarding this incident, the investigation into exactly what happened that evening remains ongoing.
