During the week of February 27, 2022, Neil Diamond sold to Universal Music Group the rights to his entire song catalog which includes such classics as "Cracklin' Rosie," "Song Sung Blue," and "Sweet Caroline." In addition, the Dutch-American multinational music company acquired the rights to all of Diamond's recordings, including many unreleased tracks and an unreleased album.

Also that week, Paul McCartney's "Women And Wives" was chosen as Record Store Day's first Song of the Year release in celebration of Record Store Day's 15th anniversary. A limited-edition vinyl single of this song is due out on June 18, with McCartney's original version on one side and St. Vincent's 2021 remix on the other.

A new lyric video for the late Helen Reddy's "I Am Women" premiered on YouTube in honor of this song's 50th anniversary and as part of a campaign commemorating Women's History Month. Co-written by Reddy and Ray Burton, this rousing feminist anthem topped the charts in 1972.

Jimmy Buffett, Chicago, The Doobie Brothers, Earth, Wind & Fire, KISS, Santana, Steely Dan, and Rod Stewart are among those taking part in Live Nation's 2022 Lawn Pass promotion. Finally, Paul McCartney, The Who, and Stevie Wonder became among a large and growing number of bands and artists to express their support for Ukraine as Russia continues its brutal invasion and inflicts atrocities on this country's civilian population. Many performers have also canceled concerts in Russia in protest, and concert promoter giant Live Nation has joined numerous businesses worldwide in ceasing all activity with Russia.
