During the week of January 30, 2022, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced its nominees for induction into the Class of 2022. Among those on the ballot are such veteran acts as Judas Priest, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon, and Dionne Warwick. The winners will be announced sometime this May.

Also that week, in the wake of Meat Loaf's recent passing, his classic 1977 album, "Bat Out Of Hell," re-entered the Billboard 200 at #13, debuted at #1 on the Top Rock Albums chart, and re-entered the Catalog Albums tally at #1. In addition, "Paradise By The Dashboard Light" and "I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)," the latter from "Bat Out Of Hell II," both debuted at #1 on the Hot Hard Rock Songs and Hard Rock Streaming Songs charts.

Robbie Robertson, The Band's co-founding lead guitarist and main songwriter, sold his rights to their music catalogs for $25 million to Iconoclast, a new investment firm based in Los Angeles. The catalogs include such classics as "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down," "Up On Cripple Creek," and "The Weight."

Also that week, it was announced that "Dio: Dreamers Never Die," a new documentary about Ronnie James Dio, will make its world premiere on March 17, 2022 at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, TX. This film covers the late heavy metal singer-songwriter's life and career both as a solo artist and as a member of Black Sabbath and Rainbow.

Finally, ABBA co-founder Bjorn Ulvaeus launched a new radio show on Apple Music. Titled "Bjorn From ABBA And Friends," the series will include music and conversations with Ulvaeus' friends and artistic collaborators.
