During the week of June 19, 2022, Stephen Stills sold the rights to his recordings to Iconic Artists Group, an entertainment brand management company owned by longtime Eagles manager Irving Azoff. Stills' recorded assets include his solo works along with music he created as a member of Buffalo Springfield, CSN, CSNY, Manassas, The Stills-Young Band, and various other groups.
Also that week, it was announced that Melba Moore is among those to be honored in 2023 with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The veteran award-winning singer and Broadway/movie actress had a smash hit in 1976 with the Van McCoy-penned disco classic, "This Is It."
Paul Rodgers of Bad Company and Free is the featured singer in "Red Harvest," a new song by Richard T. Bear (a.k.a. T Bear) about the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The companion music video recently premiered on the Quarto Valley Records official YouTube channel, and proceeds from the song and video will be donated to the Ukrainian Red Cross humanitarian relief efforts.
"The Day The Music Died: The Story Of Don McLean's American Pie," a new documentary that focuses on the epic 1971 smash and its legacy, will premiere July 8, 2022 in theaters in New York and Los Angeles and will make its TV debut July 19 on the Paramount+ streaming service. This film features new interviews with McLean in which he reveals for the first time some of the secrets behind the song's creation and the meaning behind its lyrics.
Also that week, EPIX TV announced a new four-part docuseries titled "Women Who Rock" to premiere July 10, 2022. This special, which features interviews with such pop/rock icons as Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Chaka Khan, Mavis Staples, and Nancy Wilson of Heart, focuses on female singers and musicians who have made a significant impact since the 1950s. Also coming to EPIX is a new docuseries titled "My Life As A Rolling Stone" premiering August 7. This career-spanning series will cover The Stones' six-decade journey from a blues-inspired band to one of the world's all-time great pop/rock musical acts.
Finally, Brian Wilson celebrated his 80th birthday on June 20, and the Beach Boys legend has remained active to the present day recording and performing with his solo band. Members of his band, who recently launched a co-headlining tour with Chicago, include Beach Boys co-founder Al Jardine and one-time Beach Boy Blondie Chaplin.
