During the week of April 16, 2023, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy proclaimed September 23 as Bruce Springsteen Day, a new state holiday that falls on the rock legend's birthday. Murphy stated, "Bruce Springsteen is one of the most iconic and influential musicians - and New Jerseyans - of all time, period."

John Fogerty was honored with the BMI Board of Directors Award to commemorate the impact of his five-decade career. The awards ceremonies took place April 17 at the BMI/NAB Dinner in Las Vegas, NV where the former Creedence Clearwater Revival lead singer performed such classics as "Fortunate Son," "Have You Ever Seen The Rain," and "Proud Mary."

Also that week, it was announced that "Born In Chicago," a new documentary about the Windy City's blues scene during the 1960s, will be released on August 1 on a number of digital platforms. Narrated by Dan Aykroyd, this film features archival footage and interviews with Bob Dylan, Keith Richards, and more.

Finally, Roberta Flack will receive an honorary degree from the Berklee College of Music for her contributions to music and philanthropy. The R&B legend will give a speech at the commencement ceremony taking place May 13, 2023 at Boston University's Agganis Arena.
