During the week of April 30, 2023, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced its inductees for the Class of 2023 that include Chaka Khan, Al Kooper, Willie Nelson, The Spinners, and longtime Elton John collaborator Bernie Taupin. Link Wray was also inducted posthumously with the Musical Influence Award, and other inductees include Don Cornelius, the creator and host of "Soul Train," who was honored posthumously with the Ahmet Ertegun Award. The awards ceremonies will take place November 3 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
Also that week, Live Nation announced its offering of $25 all-in tickets to over 3,000 concerts this summer that include shows by The Doobie Brothers, Foreigner, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Santana, Rod Stewart, and ZZ Top. Barry Manilow's musical, "Harmony," which he co-wrote with Bruce Sussman, will debut on Broadway this fall with previews at the Barrymore Theatre beginning October 18 and opening night scheduled for November 19. This production tells the story of what happened to the Comedian Harmonists, a German ensemble from the 1920s and 1930s who were international superstars until the rise of the Nazis.
The Grateful Dead's 11th annual Meet-Up At The Movies screening will take place June 22 and 24, 2023 in select theaters worldwide. Also that week, a new trailer was released for "Squaring The Circle (The Story Of Hipgnosis)," a new documentary about the same-named art studio famous for some of the most iconic album covers in history by such artists as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Paul McCartney. This film, which made its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, is set to open in New York on June 7 and Los Angeles on June 16 and will be shown nationwide beginning June 20.
