August 20, 2023 by Amy Gold

During the week of August 13, 2023, Billboard released its latest list of the greatest rock lead singers of all time. Topping this list is the legendary Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones, with Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac ranked at no. 2. Other veteran artists to make the top 10 are Freddie Mercury of Queen, Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin, and George Clinton of Parliament-Funkadelic at nos. 3, 4, and 8, respectively.

Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top will be honored for his songwriting by BMI with the music rights organization's Troubadour Award. His best known works include such hits as "Cheap Sunglasses," "La Grange," "Legs," and "Sharp Dressed Man." The awards ceremonies will take place September 18, 2023 during a private reception at BMI's Nashville office.

Robbie Robertson's memoir, "Testimony," made a return to the bestseller list in the wake of his recent passing. Originally released in 2017, this book covers his childhood in Toronto, touring with Bob Dylan during the late 1960s, and his time with The Band.

Also that week, it was announced that the new documentary, "Carlos: The Santana Journey Global Premiere," will debut in select theaters worldwide on September 23, 24, and 27, 2023. This movie, which features archival footage, home videos, and concert clips, will then get a wider theatrical release on September 29. For more info and tickets, visit carlosglobalpremiere.com.
