During the week of February 26, 2023, Joni Mitchell was awarded the Library of Congress 2023 Gershwin Prize for Popular Music at a tribute concert that took place March 1 in Washington, D.C. This event, which features performances by such artists as James Taylor and Graham Nash, as well as Mitchell herself, will air March 31 on PBS.

Also that week, Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Simple Man" made a return to the Hot Rock Alternative Songs and Rock Digital Song Sales charts in the wake of this song's recent performance by Colin Stough on American Idol. "Simple Man" is included on the band's 1973 debut album.

Gene Simmons is offering KISS fans the chance to record a song with him at Abbey Road Studios on July 10 for around $6,000. No musical experience is required, and more info is available at genesimmonsabbeyroadstudios.com.

Also that week, a trailer was released for the upcoming documentary, "What The Hell Happened To Blood, Sweat & Tears," which will be coming to theaters on March 24. This film covers the downfall of the famed horn band after they got caught up in political controversy following a State Department-sponsored tour of Yugoslavia, Romania, and Poland in 1970. Also, "The Lost Weekend: A Love Story," a new documentary that covers John Lennon's 18-month relationship with his personal assistant during a separation from Yoko Ono in the early 1970s, will hit theaters April 13.

Finally, Rod Stewart surprised patients at a hospital in Essex, England by paying for their MRI scans. The big-hearted rock legend now wants to fund MRI scans at other hospitals and hopes to inspire others of means to do the same.
