During the week of January 8, 2023, it was announced that Joni Mitchell will be honored with the prestigious Library of Congress 2023 Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. The awards ceremonies will take place at a tribute concert on March 1 in Washington, D.C. to air March 31 on PBS.
Also, Janis Ian will be honored with the Elaine Weissman Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2023 International Folk Music Awards. The ceremonies will take place February 1 at the opening night of the Folk Alliance International's annual conference in Kansas City, MO and will be broadcast live online. Judy Collins is among the honorees at the 2023 She Rocks Awards taking place April 13 in Anaheim, CA during the National Association of Music Merchants Show. Previous winners include Melissa Etheridge, Nancy Wilson, and Dionne Warwick.
Finally, Iron Maiden will be honored by the Royal Mail in the U.K. with a limited-edition stamp collection available beginning January 12. The set of 12 will include eight stamps featuring photos from their world tours and four with their mascot, Eddie.
