During the week of March 12, 2023, Queen guitarist Brian May was knighted by King Charles for his services to music and his charity work at a ceremony that took place March 14 in London at Buckingham Palace. May was previously named Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2005.
Also that week, it was announced that Chaka Khan will be celebrating her 70th birthday at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH. The R&B legend, whose birthday falls on March 23, will appear on March 29 for the opening of a new exhibit of memorabilia in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of her career that began in the early 1970s when she served as the lead vocalist of Rufus. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will also be hosting a special evening with Khan and her family featuring an interview with the singer.
A trailer was released for the upcoming documentary, "Little Richard: I Am Everything," featuring archival footage of the late rock & roll icon along with interviews excerpts. This movie, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January, opens April 21, 2023 in theaters.
Also that week, it was announced that "CBS Presents A Grammy Salute To The Beach Boys," recorded in Los Angeles on February 8 during Grammy week, will air April 9. This upcoming tribute features appearances by Beach Boys members Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston, Mike Love, David Marks, and Brian Wilson, with performances by such artists as Michael McDonald of The Doobie Brothers.
Finally, Rockaway Records in Los Angeles recently acquired what is believed to be the "world's largest collection" of Creedence Clearwater Revival memorabilia. Items include over 500 concert posters, hundreds of concert tickets, and thousands of vinyl records, plus autographed souvenirs, RIAA Platinum and Gold plaques, and more.
