During the week of October 1, 2023, Record Store Day announced its offerings for this year's Black Friday event taking place November 24 at independent record stores across the country. The Beach Boys, Jeff Beck, The Doors, Faces, Jerry Garcia, Grateful Dead, The Mamas & The Papas, Joni Mitchell, The Monkees, and War are among the many featured bands and artists.

Also that week, it was announced that Rod Argent and Colin Blunstone of The Zombies will be interviewed by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on October 21 following the screening of the band's new documentary, "Hung Up On A Dream." Visit rockhall.com for more info and tickets.

"The Last Waltz," the iconic documentary that captures The Band's 1976 farewell concert at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco, will be shown November 5, 2023 for one night only at theaters nationwide. For more info and tickets, visit fathomevents.com.

Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden, Billy F. Gibbons of ZZ Top, and Nancy Wilson of Heart are among the featured guests on the second season of AXS TV's rock-themed news and interview show, "Power Hour." This show premieres October 5, 2023.

Also that week, CBS announced that it will be ringing in 2024 with "New Year's Eve Live: Nashville's Big Bash" to air December 31, 2023 at 7:30 PM ET. Lynyrd Skynyrd is among the featured performers at this upcoming five-hour TV special, with additional bands and artists to be revealed in the coming weeks.

Finally, legendary producer, songwriter, and composer Quincy Jones was the recipient of the inaugural Peace through Music Award, a collaboration between the U.S. Department of State and the Recording Academy that recognizes and honors an American music industry professional, artist, or group that has played an invaluable role in cross-cultural exchanges and whose music work advances peace and mutual understanding globally. Ceremonies took place September 27, 2023 at the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. where Quincy's daughter Rashida Jones received the award on his behalf.
