Allbutforgottenoldies.net Music News Digest: Week Of September 10, 2023

September 17, 2023 by Amy Gold

During the week of September 10, 2023, the famed songwriting duo, Burt Bacharach and Hal David, returned to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in almost two decades when Doja Cat's latest single, "Paint The Town Red," reached no. 1 on that chart. This smash, which samples Dionne Warwick's 1964 hit version of "Walk On By," also marks her return to the Billboard Hot 100 after many years since she scored her last no. 1 on that chart in 1986 with "That's What Friends Are For."

Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska: Celebrating A Rough Masterpiece will take place September 19, 2023 in Nashville, TN as part of Americanafest. This event, which pays tribute in concert to The Boss' same-named 1982 album, will be taped for the upcoming PBS "Recorded Live at Analog" series to premiere in 2024.

Also that week, it was announced that the Eric Clapton-hosted Crossroads Guitar Festival taking place September 23 and 24 in Los Angeles will be coming to pay-per-view for those who cannot make it in person to this event. Clapton will headline both nights with other featured performers to include Santana, Stephen Stills, and ZZ Top. For more info and to purchase tickets, visit crossroadsguitarfestival.com.

Finally, fans can win the opportunity to perform alongside Rod Stewart on November 11, 2023 in Las Vegas during his residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Donations will go towards the Prince's Trust, a U.K. charity supporting disadvantaged young people into work, education, and training. For more info, visit prizeo.com.
