Al Dexter (May 4, 1905 - January 28, 1984) was a highly acclaimed country singer, songwriter, and guitarist who became famous during the 1940s. He is best known for the self-penned "Pistol Packin' Mama" (1943), which topped the Pop/Rock charts and also made the R&B Top 5. This smash was featured in the 1943 movie of the same name starring Ruth Terry and Robert Livingston.
