Al Kent (1937 - 2021, b. Albert Prentis Hamilton) was a singer, songwriter, and producer from Detroit who began in the mid 1950s as a member of The Nitecaps and became famous during the 1960s. He is best known for the laid-back and soulful instrumental, "You've Got To Pay The Price" (1967), an R&B Top 40 smash which later also became a hit for Gloria Taylor (sung version).
