Andrew Gold

Andrew Gold (August 2, 1951 - June 3, 2011) was a highly acclaimed singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and session musician who worked with Linda Ronstadt and many other top acts. As a recording artist, he is best known for "Lonely Boy" (1977, not to be confused with the same-named 1959 Paul Anka smash) and "Thank You for Being A Friend" (1978), the latter of which was used as the opening theme to the TV sitcom, "The Golden Girls." Gold composed extensively for movies, commercials, and TV and had further international fame as one half of Wax, a collaboration with Graham Gouldman of 10cc.
