Annie Laurie (August 11, 1924 - November 13, 2006) was a jump blues and R&B singer who became famous beginning in the late 1940s as a featured vocalist with bandleader Paul Gayton. Early R&B chart hits include such Top 10 smashes as "Since I Fell For You" (1947, later made famous by Lenny Welch), "Cuttin' Out" (1949), and "I'll Never Be Free" (1950). Laurie had her biggest Pop/Rock crossover success in 1957 with "It Hurts To Be In Love" (1957, not to be confused with the same-named hit by Gene Pitney).
