ABOUT

Ashford & Simpson were a highly acclaimed husband-wife songwriting duo/production team consisting of Nickolas Ashford (May 4, 1941 - August 22, 2011) and Valerie Simpson. Their first major songwriting success came in 1966 with the Ray Charles R&B chart-topper, "Let's Go Get Stoned," before they joined Motown and wrote many of that label's greatest hits. As performers, Ashford & Simpson are best known for "Solid" (1984), which topped the R&B charts.
